The puck drops on the 2025 NHL Global Series Sweden this afternoon, with Pittsburgh and Nashville meeting at Avicii Arena in Stockholm. Both teams desperately need points, but the Penguins look like the better bet.
Face-off is set for 2:00 PM ET, with NHL Network carrying the national broadcast. Regional coverage comes through FanDuel Sports Network South Ohio and SportsNet Pittsburgh.
NHL Global Series Preview: Penguins vs Predators
The Penguins (9-5-3) opened as -110 favorites, and the line has moved to -125. Sharp bettors have clearly picked a side, backing Pittsburgh despite their two-game skid. Nashville (5-9-4) has lost five straight and eight of their last 10, making this a perfect buy-low spot on the Pens.
Pittsburgh brings the NHL’s best power play to Stockholm at 35.7%. That’s a massive edge against Nashville’s 80.7% penalty kill. The Predators’ own power play sits at just 17.5%, and they desperately need it with their overall scoring ranked 31st at 2.56 goals per game.
Global Series Stats Comparison
| Penguins | Stat | Predators |
|---|---|---|
| 3.35 | Goals For/Game | 2.56 |
| 2.65 | Goals Against/Game | 3.61 |
| 35.7% | Power Play % | 17.5% |
| 84.3% | Penalty Kill % | 80.7% |
| .911 | Team Save % | .872 |
Sidney Crosby leads Pittsburgh with 20 points in 17 games. He’s scored 11 times already, with six coming on the power play. Evgeni Malkin has 18 assists running the second unit, while Erik Karlsson returns to his home country with 12 points from the blueline.
Some moments go beyond the game.

Nashville’s missing their best player. Roman Josi won’t make the trip with an upper-body injury, leaving Filip Forsberg to carry the offense alone. However, Matthew Wood has been the team’s hottest player with six points in his past five games. That’s not going to cut it against a Pittsburgh team allowing just 2.65 goals per game.
The goaltending matchup also favors the Pens. Arturs Silovs starts for Pittsburgh with his 2.49 GAA and .916 save percentage. He’s 4-2-3 with two shutouts. Juuse Saros counters for Nashville, but his .892 save percentage and 3.11 GAA inspire zero confidence.

My Penguins vs Predators prediction is all about Nashville’s goaltending disaster. The Predators allow 3.61 goals per game (30th in the NHL) with a .872 team save percentage. It’s hard to put down real money on a team giving up that many goals.
Saros has simply been brutal lately. Monday against the Rangers, he allowed five goals on just 12 shots. That’s a .583 save percentage. Looking at his last 10 starts, he’s allowed four or more goals six times. Nashville can’t win games when their goalie plays like that.

Pittsburgh allows 2.65 goals per game (6th in NHL) with a .911 team save percentage. Their high-danger save percentage sits at 84.31%. Nashville’s at 76.47%, worst in hockey. When you give up that many quality chances and can’t stop them, you’re typically going to lose.
History heavily favors Pittsburgh as well. The Pens are a ridiculous 22-8 in the last 30 meetings with Nashville. Pittsburgh’s also 4-1 in their last five Friday games and 4-1 in their last five road games against teams with losing home records.
Total-wise, the under has hit in seven of the last eight matchups between the Preds and Pens.

Pittsburgh moneyline at -125 is my top play (-122 at BetRivers best line). The line movement from -110 tells you everything. Big money is backing the Penguins, and the goaltending edge alone makes this worth playing.
I also like under 6.5 goals at -120 on DraftKings. Seven of the last eight meetings have gone under. Pittsburgh’s last seven Friday games saw the under cash five times. Both teams flying across the Atlantic this week should lead to sloppy, low-scoring hockey.
For NHL player props, Crosby over 0.5 goals offers value at plus money. He’s scored 11 times in 17 games and gets Nashville’s terrible 76.47% high-danger save percentage. Karlsson over 0.5 points at -120 looks good too. The Swedish defenseman should get extra ice time in his home country.
Nashville’s scored more than three goals just once in their last 10 games. Without Josi, they can’t transition the puck effectively. I project this as a 4-2 Pittsburgh win with Silovs keeping Nashville’s weak offense in check.
Penguins vs Predators Odds
Pittsburgh opened -110 but has been bet up to around -125. That’s the right side. Nashville’s current form doesn’t deserve that tight of an opening line. The total dropped from 6.5 to 6.0 at most books, though Under bettors can pay extra juice to get the 6.5 in an alternate total.
