TOP STORY: Fernandes to make Spurs switch
In-demand Benfica midfielder Gedson Fernandes has been linked with a number of clubs in the last week, including Chelsea, but further to our earlier suggestion that Tottenham had joined the race for the midfielder, tonight it seems the north Londoners have actually landed their target, with the deal to be announced early next week.
That's according to The Mirror, who are claiming the Portuguese midfielder will be unveiled by Jose Mourinho as early as Monday.
Fernandes is supposedly joining Spurs on an 18-month loan deal from Benfica after his agent Jorge Mendes spent Friday thrashing out the terms of the deal with the Spurs hierarchy.
Fernandes will offer Mourinho options in the middle of the park with both Harry Kane and Moussa Sissoko out injured until April.

22.08 GMT: Man United and Chelsea are both interested in adding a striker in January and Lyon's Moussa Dembele is a target for both.
According to French journalist Ignazio Genuardi, via The Mirror, Man United are looking to hijack Chelsea's move for the former Fulham and Celtic man and have sent scouts to France ton watch the striker.
Dembele has scored 11 goals in 19 games this campaign for Lyon.
21.24 GMT: Tottenham look as if they are about to lose one of their top playmakers.
La Gazzetta dello Sport are claiming that playmaker Christian Eriksen has agreed to a four-and-a-half year deal with Inter Milan. The Dane's contract expires in the summer but Inter reportedly could get him in January if they are willing to pay Spurs £17 million.
Eriksen, who joined Spurs in 2013 from Ajax, has made 302 appearances for Tottenham, scoring 69 goals and providing 89 assists.
20.52 GMT: Aston Villa and Crystal Palace are desperate to sign a striker this January with Chelsea's Michy Basthuayi a popular name.
He won't come cheap though, as Chelsea reportedly want £45 million for the Belgian, according to The Sun. Chelsea have been adamant that they won't loan out the 26-year-old again, Batshuayi having already been loaned out to Borussia Dortmund, Valencia and Crystal Palace.
Batshuayi scored six times in 13 games last season on loan for Palace, while Villa are in need of a striker after summer signing Wesley tore his ACL.
20.18 GMT: Ruben Neves to Man United?
The Wolves star isn't too excited to talk about a move, according to Goal.com. With multiple reports claiming that Man United are interested in signing Neves, 22, and Wolves teammate Raul Jimenez. The Portuguese playmaker has a â¬100 million release clause but is apparently in no rush to force a move from the Molineux.
19.35 GMT: With Harry Kane out until April through injury, Tottenham are a good bet to bring in a striker in January.
The latest name linked with Jose Mourinho and Spurs? Gabriel Barbosa or 'Gabigol'. The Inter Milan flop has revived his career in his native Brazil with Flamengo and according to The Sunday Mirror, is being targeted by Spurs. The report states that Tottenham want to sign the Brazilian for £25 million.
Gabigol helped Flamengo to a historic Brazilian league and Copa Libertadores double, dramatically scoring two late goals to win the Libertadores vs. River Plate. All in all, Gabigol scored 43 times for Flamengo on loan last season, following 27 goals the year prior with fellow Brazilian side Santos.
18.53 GMT: Norwich currently sit bottom of the Premier League and eight points from safety... but help is on the way.
The Canaries announced on Sunday that the club has agreed with Hertha Berlin on a six-month loan deal for attacking midfielder Ondrej Duda.
The Slovakia international, 24, has found himself on the fringes this season in Berlin but just last season bagged 11 goals and added eight assists for the German side.
18.19 GMT: Scottish giants Celtic have reportedly made a big for a prolific young European striker,
According to Greek site sporfm.gr, the Hoops have made a £5.3 million offer for 21-year-old Greek striker Vangelis Pavlidis. The Willem II man has nine goals in 17 games this campaign in the Dutch Eredivisie and has made five appearances for the Greek senior side.
Celtic could be in the market for a striker as star Odsonne Edouard has been linked with a move to a bigger European league.
17.51 GMT: It seems like just yesterday Thomas Lemar was one of the most-wanted players in football. Boy, have times changed.
With the midfielder struggling since his â¬60 million move to Atletico Madrid in June 2018, Los Rojiblancos are looking to offload Lemar, 24, this month. Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham have been three clubs linked with the Frenchman but another -- somewhat surprising -- Premier League club has reportedly joined the fray.
Mundo Deportivo claims that ambitious and free-spending Wolves could be a destination for former Monaco man, noting the string of deals the two clubs have completed in recent years. Three former Atleti castoffs have excelled in Wolverhampton (Raul Jiménez, Jonny Otto, Diogo Jota) and MD say Lemar could be the next.
Lemar has yet to register a goal or an assist in 21 games this season and has only totaled three goals and six assists in 64 games with Atletico Madrid overall.

17.10 GMT: AC Milan goalkeeper Pepe Reina is in the crowd watching Aston Villa take on Manchester City ahead of his proposed loan move to Villa Park. At the time of writing, his new team are 3-0 down.

16.15 GMT: Update to 10:23 GMT -- Barcelona striker Luis Suarez has been ruled out of action for at least four months, which is likely to accelerate the club's search for an attacker to sign in January.
Sources had told ESPN earlier on Sunday that the Spanish champions were already weighing up a move for a forward in the winter window before Suarez's long-term was confirmed.
Rather than spend a lot of money on signing a short-term fix from another club, perhaps they could look to Lionel Messi's son, Thiago. The seven-year-old certainly looks like he could do a job up front...

15.47 GMT: Major League Soccer club Chicago fire have made Manchester United midfielder Nemanja Matic a contract offer worth $6.5m a year, according to The Sun.
The Serbia international could leave Old Trafford in the January transfer window in order to play a full part in the Fire's preseason preparations.
The Sun report adds that Bayern Munich's versatile Javi Martinez is considered as an alternative target if a move for Matic does not pan out.
Matic, 31, has made just five Premier League appearances this season, although he has featured in each of the club's last five games in all competitions due to Paul Pogba and Scott McTominay's injuries.
14.40 GMT: Barcelona legend Xavi Hernandez has decided to turn down the opportunity to immediately replace Ernesto Valverde as the club's head coach, sources have told ESPN.
Following two days of phone calls and meetings, Al Saad manager Xavi told Barca sporting director Eric Abidal and CEO Oscar Grau that he was open to the possibility of joining the club next season.
Sources told ESPN that Valverde's job was not in immediate danger following the SuperCopa exit at the hands of Atletico Madrid, but Barca changed their minds and sent Abidal and Grau to Qatar where they met with Xavi on three occasions.
Xavi, who has been linked with the Barca job ever since he stopped playing for the club, prefers to start the new project from scratch and not go behind Valderde's back.
13.22 GMT: Bournemouth goalkeeper Asmir Begovic is in Italy having a medical ahead of a loan move to A.C. Milan, Sky Sports News reports.
Begovic is set to sign for the Serie A side as current Milan backup Pepe Reina nears closer to joining Aston Villa on loan.
13.12 GMT: Manchester United defender Ashley Young has agreed personal terms with Serie A side Inter Milan, according to a Gazzetta journalist.
Young is in talks with Inter over a possible transfer, sources told ESPN on Wednesday. The 34-year-old could sign for the Italian side this month or, if United block the deal, sign a precontract agreement and move to Serie A on a free transfer at the end of the season.
Gazzetta report that Young has reached am agreement for a deal running until 2021 with an annual salary of â¬3m.
Young is reportedly set to complete a move to Italy in the next few days.

11.46 GMT: Flamengo midfielder Reinier has reportedly undergone a medical in Brazil ahead of his â¬30m move to Real Madrid.
The 17-year-old is currently with Brazil's under-23 squad in Rio de Janeiro ahead of the CONMEBOL Pre-Olympic tournament in Colombia later this month.
Reports in Spain and Brazil suggest Reinier took time out of training on Friday and Saturday to undergo medical testing with Real Madrid club doctors. The transfer is expected to be made official when he turns 18 next Sunday 19th January.
Real Madrid were keen to complete the deal now, before his release clause rises from â¬30m to â¬35m in June for the summer transfer window.
Reinier is likely to join up with Real Madrid's B team Castilla - coached by club legend Raul - when his international duties are completed in February.
