TOP STORY: Chelsea eye move for PSG striker Icardi

Chelsea are willing to negotiate with Paris Saint-Germain over a January move for striker Mauro Icardi, according to journalist Ekrem Konur.

Icardi, 28, has been linked with a move away from the French capital as he struggles to get game time at the club, who have opted for a front four of Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe, Neymar and Angel Di Maria.

The Argentine has reportedly fallen out with fellow countryman Messi, having moved to Paris permanently from Inter Milan in 2020 for €60m after a successful one-year loan.

Icardi has scored three goals in 11 games so far this season, while Chelsea are still looking for a reliable backup to €115m frontman Romelu Lukaku as Timo Werner continues to struggle. Both players are out injured at the moment, with no other strikers available as Olivier Giroud and Tammy Abraham both left for Serie A, while Michy Batshuayi joined Besiktas on loan.

21.29 BST: We'll end with a big one, as Borussia Dortmund have asked Chelsea to keep them up to date on the situations of Timo Werner, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Christian Pulisic, as reported by TEAMtalk. None of the trio has been able to hold down a place in Thomas Tuchel's lineup this term -- with the latter being hindered by injuries -- and the Bundesliga outfit are hoping to sign any of them if they should become available.

20.56 BST: Simon Kjaer has signed a new contract that will keep him with AC Milan until 2024, the Italian club has confirmed. Before that, the Denmark international's deal was set to end in the summer, but the centre-back will now be able to build on his 66 appearances for the Rossoneri.

20.23 BST: Christian Falk has stated that Lucien Favre, most recently in charge of Borussia Dortmund, is the favourite to take over as Newcastle United manager after Steve Bruce's departure. The journalist has also suggested that Marc Overmars of Ajax is a candidate for their sporting director role and could work alongside Favre.

19.50 BST: Liverpool are set to offer Mohamed Salah a large signing-on fee to help make the forward their top earner, according to TEAMtalk.

The report suggests that the Egypt international wants to be the club's highest earner, which would take the 29-year-old above £220,000 a week, but that he is not after the widely reported £500,000-a-week wage packet. While the Reds are understandably keen to keep their talisman for longer than the two years left on his contract, they are only willing to go so far and feel the signing-on fee could help.

19.17 BST: Arsenal are hoping to extend the contract of Eddie Nketiah for another three years, according to Ekrem Konur. The England U21 international's deal comes to an end this summer, and despite the Gunners' desire to retain the 22-year-old, the striker is only willing to extend his stay if he is offered assurances of more game time than he's received so far this season.

18.44 BST: Internazionale, AC Milan, Juventus and AS Roma have all been left frustrated by Real Madrid, according to Calciomercato.

Between them, the Serie A sides have shown interest in Isco, Mariano, Marco Asensio and Dani Ceballos, who have all struggled for game time under Carlo Ancelotti and are hoping for a change of scenery. Their respective situations are being monitored in Italy.

18.11 BST: Manchester United will need to pay Ole Gunnar Solskjaer £7.5m in severance payments if they decide to sack him, according to the Sun. The Norwegian is under pressure to keep his job after a 5-0 defeat against Liverpool amid a poor run of results, but it won't be cheap for the Red Devils if they do decide to move on and bring in a new manager.

17.38 BST: Torino may have lost 1-0 against AC Milan, but Gleison Bremer impressed to the extent that both Milan and Internazionale are considering moving for him, reports Calciomercato. Inter are the most interested in the 24-year-old centre-back whose contract expires in 18 months' time, and could be available for a transfer fee of between €8m and €10m.

17.05 BST: Ajax have confirmed that midfielder Edson Alvarez has signed a contract extension that will see him stay at the Johan Cruyff Arena until 2025. The 24-year-old Mexico international's previous deal would have seen him stay in Amsterdam until 2024, but he now has an extra year having been a regular feature during their impressive start to the season.

16.32 BST: Bayern Munich midfielder Corentin Tolisso is of interest to Tottenham, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

Tolisso, 27, is set to depart the Bundesliga champions after slipping down the pecking order. Juventus and Inter were interested but now it appears Tottenham will face competition from Paris Saint-Germain and Atletico Madrid to land him on a free transfer when his contract expires in the summer.

15.50 BST: Chelsea's defence could be very different next season as Thiago Silva, Cesar Azpilicueta, Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger are all out of contract in the summer of 2022.

Eurosport claims that the club are trying to figure out who could come in to replace them if they don't pen new terms and the shortlist is interesting.

Jules Kounde (Sevilla), Matthijs de Ligt (Juventus) and Pau Torres (Villarreal) are three players who are being considered.

Kounde has been on the radar for some time, but Chelsea have not been willing to match his €80m release clause. Juve's De Ligt is being touted for a summer move, though his release clause is around €150m, while Torres' €60m clause is more within reach.

It's unlikely that Chelsea will need to replace all four players at once, though it's good to know they have a plan or two in place.

15.03 BST: AC Milan women have confirmed the signing of 18-year-old Maccabi Emek Hefer star Noa Selimhodzic.

A new addition to the Rossonere family: welcome, Noa Selimhodzic
